They are like our faces, there is no ‘irregular’ vulva
I am going to be writing about the vulva a couple of times because over the years I have realized that a lot of us, women do not know enough about our bodies, which is not surprising because apart from the don’t get pregnant talk, we did not really get any form of sex education from our parents/guardians. Especially in this part of the world.
I took it upon myself to learn about my body, especially the vagina and I will be sharing what I have learned with you, hoping you can share it with the women in your lives.
Today, I am discussing the 3 things you must know about your vulva
There are 2 holes in the vulva
There is the urethra, she is above the vagina and below the clitoris, she provides a passageway for urine to flow from the bladder outside.
The second is the vagina, this babe is the passageway of menstrual fluids and she welcomes the penis inside the vagina. During childbirth, the fetus is also pushed out of the vagina
Every Vulva is different
They are like our faces, there is no normal-looking vulva and I wish I knew this when I was younger because I remember telling a lady to get checked because her vulva was different. I feel terrible anytime I remember, but I was not rude, I promise.
We have the same parts but different shapes and sizes. The Labia (inner and outer lips) have different types and colors. She can be puffy, dangly, etc. some people have inner labia that stick out their outer labia and some women have labia that are tucked in and it is very normal for one lip of the labia to be bigger than the other.
The clitoris can also be big or small.
Vulvas also come with different skin colors from pink to purple to brown.
Vagina farts are normal
Vagina farts also called queefs or varts are pretty normal and common, it has happened to a lot of women, especially during sex and exercise, I remember the first time it happened to me I was embarrassed until I saw a tweet saying it was normal and the women commenting agreed.
So, it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. You are fine and it is normal.
Also, sex should not hurt, if it does please don’t be embarrassed to see a doctor, do not suffer in silence. You deserve only good things in this life, please dear.
I hope you learned something from this and please share it with the women in your lives.
Love and Light,
Funke.
