Writing this with mixed feelings, I’m happy and grateful to be in the new year with my family and friends but I’m sad that I had a lot planned before the new year that had to be canceled because my phone got bad and cannot be fixed.
I already wrote a heartfelt post about 2018 and one about 2019, I had clients to attend to, my notepad with poetry, blog post ideas, articles, my contacts, over 6000 pictures and videos most of which were not backed up all gone.
My phone spoilt before Christmas and after being assured that it was going to be fixed, it cannot. But I can’t compare this to being alive with all the people I love, I was not robbed, I am not in the hospital, I am alive, here. I’m grateful to God.
2018 has been the most challenging year for me, from completing NYSC to letting my relationship end because of genotype to losing friends, to sudden changes, It was all just too much for me at a certain point and I broke down, I was confused, I was sad and I was not sure about myself.
I feel like the worst has happened already and 2019 is the year for me to put the lessons I’ve learned into practice, I’m glad for the lessons learned in 2018, the much-needed growth physically, mentally and in every aspect of my life basically.
There is the need to do more, I’ve completed NYSC and this is the period where I am in charge of my path, I am already in fashion school and its more challenging than I thought but I love it, it’s been a dream so when things get tough I remind myself that I wanted this and I’m doing this.
Some people believe that there’s no need for the new year, new goals but I think it is necessary, at the end of the year, people naturally reflect so what better time to set goals than after having a moment with yourself?
Here are some of my goals for 2019 to make me conquer the year
Build more streams of income
I am a freelance writer and I have an online store but I need to do more with developing my skills and pushing my hustle
Be more consistent
I know you have probably seen this before but this time it’s different, I promise. I started off with creating my content calendar for the month of January, I will be posting 2-4 times a week and I hope you hold me accountable on my social media platforms
I want to focus on my health more, I’m blessed with a good body that bangs if I don’t work out but working out is not just about looking fit but staying healthy mentally and physically so I’ll be doing more exercise, drinking more water and eating right.
Face my worries and fear
Sometimes I find myself running away from certain things or situations and although it makes no sense, in the presence it gives an illusion that it works, that has got to end, I’m not a coward so I will learn to face whatever comes my way
- Read more book on finance and personal development
- Spend more time with the people that matter, people that I won’t feel alone with when I am with them
- Save more money
- Avoid procrastination
- Take note of my toxic traits and work on them
- Travel more
- Learn how to make a new dish every month
- Do regular checkups
- Spend less time on social media doing things that don’t matter
- Start remembering important dates
- Expressing myself more, exploring my womanhood and enjoying myself
How to conquer 2019 goals
Break big goals into smaller tasks
Big goals require smaller steps, if you don’t break big goals you may get overwhelmed and burn out quickly, for example; I want to be more consistent with blogging, I have created a content calendar, I will be writing every day and I will be reading other blogs for inspiration.
Write down or print out
When you see your goals or to do list every day it reminds you and you put more effort rather than leaving it somewhere
Deadlines make you more serious about your goals, for example; learning how to make a dish each month means before the ending of the month I must have learned a new dish
Get accountability partners
You need people that force you to level up and will call you out when you are slacking. Share your goals with each other and talk about them often, your challenges and help each other grow!
Believe in yourself!
If you don’t believe in your light, all of this is just a waste, I mean. I believe in you, you reading this means you want to do better so darling. Do better.
I pray you find the strength within you to overcome any challenge that will come your way because challenges will come, if they don’t, you’re too comfortable where you are, you need to move.
Happy New Year and stay close, you will be hearing from me soon
