Staying true to my personal style has been a very difficult process; there was a point in my life I felt that I didn’t know myself and certain insecurities defined my personal style and it’s that not what it’s supposed to be about? Your style is supposed to reflect how you’re feeling and where you are.

That’s why personal style changes because you outgrow, unlearn and relearn. Also when I started blogging I toned my style down a bit, because I didn’t see anyone dressing like me and I didn’t understand what it was to be original to myself in the blogging world.

I’ve decided to accept my edgy style

Here are some tips on staying true to your personal style.

Being confident in your self

Confidence is key when you want to stay true to your personal style (individuality), you need to get to a point where if people look at you weirdly because of how you’re dressed, you look at them right back and ask what’s up?

Listen to your body

We have different body types and it’s important to wear what flaunts your best parts if I can call it that, if you can’t get enough of your curves and you feel more confident flaunting them. By all means wear that body-con dress, that banging high waist pants and anything that makes you stop in front of the mirror and stare.

Lifestyle

I can be a little over my head when it comes to dressing according to my lifestyle cause I’m more of a mood person. If I wake up feeling under, that’s how I’ll dress and my flexibility at work allows that but I know with time I have to be more conscious about my lifestyle and my outfit. In some schools, certain pieces are not allowed and also at work so there’s always a way you can tweak the style to your personal style and I hope to show you that with time.

Pay attention to your favorites

There’s a difference between being inspired by a look and copying a look. For example, I love @theladyvhodka style and I pay close attention to her not because we wear the same type of outfits but because she’s about what I’m about with style.

Staying true to your individuality and that inspires me about her. So you will not see me wear what she’s wearing piece by piece but she definitely inspires me. Pay close attention to people with the same vibe as you so when you feel like you’re doing too much or getting boring you see them and feel better.

THE OUTFIT POST

For this look, I wanted an edgy look. I mean I’m an extra girl. The fishnet and black lipstick were what I needed to have the right amount of edge. Palazzo pants have made a comeback and I’m here for it!
